Mr Lerner was born in Paris. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in law followed by a diploma of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris in 1999. Having graduated from the National Administration School (ENA) in 2004, Mr Lerner began his career at the Ministry of the Interior as deputy head of the Office for Elections and Political Studies.
In 2006, he was appointed private secretary of the Languedoc-Roussillon Prefect. Then, he joined the Paris Police Prefecture, where he served as chef de cabinet of the Prefect, before becoming private secretary of his cabinet in 2012.
In 2015, Mr Lerner was appointed in Corsica in charge of security coordination, and then joined the Office of the Minister of the Interior as private secretary in 2017. Being experienced on security issues, he was promoted Director of the DGSI in 2018 at the age of 40.
Mr Lerner was awarded the National Order of Merit.
